GROTON – Groton exploded for 27 first-quarter points to grab a double-digit lead and went on to a 77-52 non-conference boys’ basketball win over Northwestern Monday night.

Lane Tietz led a balanced attack for the Tigers with 19 points. Jacob Zak followed with 14, Cole Simon added 13, Tate Larson contributed 10, and Ryder Johnson finished with eight.

Lincoln Woodring and Jude Ortmeier each had 13 points to top Northwestern, and Chase Neiber added 11.
