The checkered flag dropped on the regular season at Brown County Speedway Saturday night.
While there is still one doubleheader remaining this coming weekend, track championships were determined before the final night of action.
Kent Arment of Aberdeen added to his legendary list of accomplishments at the local track winning season titles in both the Modified and Late Model divisions.
“Certainly it’s always fun to win at your home track,” Arment said. “I don’t want to discount it at all, but with (other top racers) missing a few nights, that kind of took away a little bit, but still we had a great year, really.”
Arment, who has won two WISSOTA National Championships in both Modified and Late Model, now has a whopping 27 track championships in Aberdeen. His latest Modified title is his 16th since 1994, and his Late Model crown is his 11th since 2001.
“I really don’t go looking for them,” he said, noting he is part of the track management team and also helping his daughter with her racing program.
Arment said he still enjoys all of the things associated with the sport.
“I love having fun with the other racers, and getting around there, and negotiating the track and things like that,” he said.
Of course, the spirit of competition is the main motivator, so Arment plans to keep getting behind the wheel for a few more years.
“It’s a lot of fun. We have a good time doing it,” Arment said. “Certainly we’ll keep doing it for a while.”
Warner’s Trevor Nelson won his fourth straight track championship in the Super Stock division, Adam Brotherton of Huron defended his title in the Midwest Modified, and Jaden Christ of Jamestown won his first track championship in the Street Stock division.

Arment won the Late Model feature on Saturday night, and Brotherton won the Midwest Mod main. Other feature winners included Mark Abeln of Groton in Super Stock, Maria Broksieck of Goodwin in Street Stock, and Mike Stearns of Aberdeen in Modified.
The racing season will conclude this weekend with the Big Buck Nationals doubleheader on Friday and Saturday.
