GROTON – Leola-Frederick’s Jace Bender won the individual title on the boys’ side, while the Ipswich girls had the top three finishers and 10 of the top 15 times in the girls’ race at the Steve Grode Memorial Invitational cross country meet Thursday afternoon at Olive Grove Golf Course.

Bender, a junior, bested the rest of the boys’ field by 45 seconds and was one of four Titans in the top 10 as Leola-Frederick cruised to the team title over Warner.

Aberdeen Christian’s Joseph Richards finished fourth overall as the lone Knight in the field.

On the girls’ side, it was all Ipswich as the Tigers’ top three finishers – Isabella Galbraith, Jayla Stiles and Kalynn Oban – are all eighth graders.

Groton’s Ryelle Gilbert broke up the Ipswich train with her fourth-place showing.

Christian’s Clara Herried was the lone Knight in the girls’ race, finishing in 23rd, while Aberdeen Roncalli posted a handful of junior varsity runners to claim a third place showing in the team standings.
