STURGIS – Aberdeen Central wrapped up its West River road swing with a straight-sets sweep of Sturgis Saturday afternoon, taking down the Scoopers in a non-conference volleyball match by a 25-20, 25-15, 25-18 tally.

Central put together a strong performance at the service line in the win and backed it up with a big net presence from Lauryn Burckhard and Kamdyn Borge. That combination kept the Scoopers from being able to string together any lingering threat.

Burckhard notched 14 kills on just 30 attempts for the Golden Eagles, while Borge finished with 11 kills. Borge also spearheaded the team’s efforts at the service line, notching four of the team’s 11 aces.

“We served really well today with nearly twice as many aces as errors, and we kept them out of system in serve receive most of the match,” said Central coach Jackie Bindenagel.

Alivia Miller had 17 assists, 18 digs, four kills and a pair of aces for the Golden Eagles. Camryn Albrecht had 14 assists, while Karlie Nieman and Kalli Huff had a pair of aces each.

Central moves to 5-1 with the victory, its fifth in a row. The Golden Eagles are home to host Sioux Falls Lincoln and Huron this week with the Patriots coming to Golden Eagles Arena on Tuesday and Huron on Thursday.
