MADISON – Aberdeen Roncalli had two runner-up finishes and a pair of consolation champions during the singles portion of the Madison Invitational Tennis Tournament on Friday.

Abby Andersen and Lydi Nora finished second at fifth and sixth flight, respectively, while Sydney Bohle was fifth at flight two and Molleigh Hofer was fifth at flight four.

“I always think this weekend in Madison is fun, because it’s a tournament for each flight, just like it will be at the state tournament,” said Roncalli coach Ryan Bohle. “It really gives you a good idea of where you are versus the field. We had four girls win two matches.”

Andersen and Nora won their first two matches, and Sydney Bohle and Hofer won their last two.

“Each of those four girls were somewhat dominant in their own way in their wins,” Coach Bohle said. “Molleigh and Sydney both won those consolations in tiebreakers, so they had long matches that ended the day positively for both of them.”

The Cavaliers are back at again today in the doubles portion of the tourney.

“It’s really fun to watch these girls have a little success,” Bohle said, “and have them see that their hard work is paying off.”
