Northern State was selected to finish in the middle of the pack among Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference volleyball squad standings according to the coaches’ preseason poll.
The Wolves are eighth among the 16 NSIC squads. Concordia-St. Paul is at the top of the preseason standings with 11 first-place votes. CSP finished runner-up at last year’s NCAA Division II National Tournament. Wayne State is second with three first-place votes, and St. Cloud is third with two first-place votes.
Ava Nilsson is Northern’s Player to Watch for the upcoming season. The former Warner standout from Mansfield is a red-shirt sophomore setter. She averaged nearly a dozen set assists per match for the Wolves last season.
Northern opens its season on Friday, Aug. 28 at a tournament in Colorado. NSU’s home opener is set for Friday, Sept. 11 against Minnesota Crookston at Wachs Arena.
