HURON – The Aberdeen Central soccer team continued its stellar start to the season on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles won their third straight game in dominant fashion with an 11-0 shutout over Huron.

So far Central has outscored their three foes by a combined total of 27-1.

The Golden Eagles set the tone early against Huron with a pair of goals in the opening 10 minutes of the contest, and two more in the second 10 minutes of the opening half.

Jaxi Lozenski was responsible for three of the goals, while Keyana Stillman scored the other.

“Girls played well today. Had a chance to get minutes for many players,” said Central coach Kendra Hanley. “Today was a chance to really focus on playing the way we are facing and working the ball back in order to go forward.”

Lainey Lamont, Clare Peterson, and Brianna Fischer rounded out the first-half scoring as Central led 7-0 at the break.

“It’s fun to see the drive in the athletes and the ‘want’ to get that goal,” Hanley said. “All around it helps set the tone for the team and what needs to get matched in order to be successful.”

Lozenski added a fourth goal in the second half, while Espynn Kuhfeld, Paige Ewalt, and Josie Cobbs also found the back of the net for the Golden Eagles.

Central finished with 32 shots in the contest.

“We had good shots all around, and their keeper had some really nice saves,” Hanley said.

The Golden Eagles will now gear up for their home opener at 4 p.m. Friday against Sioux Falls Lincoln at Brownell Activities Complex.

“The girls continue to work on communication and multiple runs for an attack to give all sorts of chances,” Hanley said. “We already have Friday on our mind and getting ready to fine tune things in our end.”
