PIERRE – Aberdeen Roncalli came up short in a pair of tennis duals on Thursday, but still made progress. The Cavaliers fell to Rapid City Christian 7-2 and were blanked by St. Thomas More 9-0.

“I thought we played really well today,” said Roncalli coach Jonah Dignan. “We got a few on Christian early in the day. Two doubles, man, they just came out hot.”

The second flight tandem of Liam Voehl and Caleb Stoks earned a 10-3 victory against Rapid City Christian. The duo came up just short against STM, falling 10-8.

Roncalli also received a win from Ezra Feickert at top flight singles in his first action back from injury.

“Then against STM we played super solid tennis,” Dignan said. “We played some of the longest tennis points I’ve seen.”

In addition to flight two doubles, Roncalli lost three other close matches against STM, falling 11-9, 11-8, and 10-6.

“I thought our one and two doubles played some great tennis today against a couple solid teams,” Dignan said.

Roncalli will remain in Pierre for a tournament today.
