RAPID CITY – Aberdeen Roncalli grabbed an 8-1 win over Spearfish on Saturday to conclude play during the three-day West River Invitational tennis tournament.

“We came out well this morning,” said Roncalli coach Jonah Dignan. “We got out to some early leads and were able to weather some runs they made late.”

The Cavaliers were without the services of Lincoln Hundstad, who injured his ankle. Cody Niederbaumer filled in and teamed with up Isaac Cybulski for a doubles victory.

“He got a win at flight three doubles with Isaac for each of their first varsity wins,” Dignan said.

Roncalli went 2-3 during their five duals at the event.

“Overall, this was a solid weekend for us,” Dignan said. “We played a lot of matches and came out with some wins and some experience against quality teams.”

The Cavaliers will return to action after Easter.
