Last year on Feb. 18, 2025: Aberdeen Christian senior Ethan Biel nailed eight 3-pointers on the way to a career-high 26 points in an 83-51 win over Langford Area on senior night.
10 years ago on Feb. 21, 2016: The Aberdeen Central girls’ basketball team defeated Mitchell 71-30 behind a combined 36 points from Brianna Kusler and Paiton Burckhard.
20 years ago on Feb. 18, 2006: Taylor Brushbreaker of St. Francis made 11 three-pointers in scoring 37 points in his boys’ basketball team’s 84-81 double-overtime loss to Cheyenne-Eagle Butte. Daelan High Wolf scored 44 for CEB.
30 years ago on Feb. 17, 1996: Miller native Chad McGough scored 38 to lead his Mount Marty men’s basketball team to a 89-72 win over Black Hills State.
40 years ago on Feb. 21, 1986: South Dakota high school basketball teams are preparing for their first post-season using the three-class (AA, A and B) system. South Dakota had only two classes (A and B) for the previous 50 years.
50 years ago on Feb. 21, 1976: Groton won the State B wrestling championship behind state titles
from Randy Locke (126 pounds) and Mark Johnson (185). The Tigers scored 69.5 points followed by Doland (68.5), defending champion Webster (67.5) and Redfield (63).
