The Aberdeen Cougars scored in every period on the way to a 4-2 boys’ hockey win over the Watertown Lakers Friday night at the Odde Ice Center.
“It was good win for us,” said Cougars coach Dana Myhre. “We were short a few players due to vacations, so the lines were all a little different then they have been so far.”
Carter Vilhauer put Aberdeen in front with an unassisted goal in the opening period. Watertown tied the score less than two minutes later.
The Cougars gained separation in the second period with a pair of goals. Derek Holland had an unassisted goal early in the period, before Trayke Roehrich put Aberdeen up 3-1 when he found the back of the net about 10 minutes later on assists from Jaxon Danielson and Oaklee Wurtz.

Watertown closed the deficit to within a goal in the third period on Colin Solheim’s second goal of the game. Vilhauer then iced the victory with a goal in the closing seconds on an assist from Roehrich.
Aberdeen outshot the Lakers 30-17 in the contest.
“We played pretty good defensively and limited their shots on goal,” Myhre said, “and did a pretty good job forechecking in the offensive zone which created some good scoring chances for us.”
