VERMILLION – Led by the fifth place finish from Lucas Daggett, Aberdeen Roncalli took third place in team points during the Vermillion Invitational Golf Tournament on Monday.

The Cavaliers finished with a team score of 331. Vermillion won the team title with a 290 total, followed by Dakota Valley at 307. Rylan Moran of Vermillion was the medalist with a 5-under-par 67, three strokes better than a pair of runner-up finishers.

Daggett shot a round of 76 to lead Roncalli.

“I’m very happy with Lucas. He keeps playing well and working hard at it,” said Roncalli coach Jon Murdy.

The weather was not necessary ideal for the golfers on the day.

“It was tough day with some windy conditions,” Murdy said. “It is fun to watch Lucas thinking around a course and not just doing the hit and hope.”

Finn Anderson earned a top-15 finish with a round of 81. Teammate Harper Schnabel was eight positions back with an 84. Owen Vogel and Matthew Gerlach both shot rounds of 90. Jesse Hernandez finished with a 93.

The Cavaliers will compete at the Groton Invitational on Thursday.
