SIOUX FALLS – Aberdeen Central lost a close, hard-fought opening set before Sioux Falls Lincoln was able to secure a 25-23, 25-21, 25-18 non-conference volleyball sweep Tuesday night.

While it marks the first loss in straight sets for the Golden Eagles, there were some positives for Central on the evening.

“Our block did a nice job of getting their hands up and over the net,” said Central coach Jackie Bindenagel, “so that was the bright spot for us tonight.”

The Golden Eagles had three ace serves and also served multiple points during stages of the match.

“We had kids go on some good serving runs,” Bindenagel said.

Lauryn Burckhard led a balance Central attack on offense, finishing with nine kills. Kamdyn Borge contributed seven, and Kenadi Withers added five.

Central, 5-2 on the season, takes on another Sioux Falls foe when its hosts Sioux Falls Washington on Thursday night at Golden Eagles Arena. The Warriors are 5-1 on the year.
