MILBANK – Aberdeen Roncalli was doubled up by Lennox and Milbank Tuesday, dropping both tennis duals by 6-3 margins.

The Cavaliers won fifth and sixth flight singles, and third flight doubles in both duals.

“We played Lennox super tough right off the bat today. They are a team made up of seniors and juniors, and we are freshmen and seventh-graders,” said Roncalli coach Jonah Dignan. “I feel like we competed to the best of our abilities, and in the end, they won the points that mattered. The mental maturity of their team showed today.”

Molleigh Hofer won both of her singles matches at flight five, and Abby Andersen won both of her singles matches at flight six. Andersen teamed with Lydia Nora for a pair of doubles wins at flight three as well.

Milbank gained a measure of revenge against the Cavaliers, who beat the Bulldogs earlier this month.

“Against Milbank we were burnt out after using a lot of what we had in the tank against Lennox and it showed,” Dignan said.

Sydney Bohle lost a hard-fought match at second flight singles, falling 11-9 in a tiebreaker.

“Sydney was down 9-6 in her singles match and battled back and took it to a tiebreaker,” Dignan said. “Neither player had much of anything left, and Syd showed a lot of fight today.”

Dignan also pointed out the contributions of lone senior Keira Rivett.

“She showed amazing leadership and maturity to the younger girls,” Dignan said. “Our whole team showed a lot of fight and maturity for their age and that makes me really proud to be their coach.”

The Cavaliers wrap up their regular season by hosting Sioux Falls Christian on Saturday at the Northern State Courts.
