DELL RAPIDS – Aberdeen Roncalli placed four golfers in the top 10 and gained a measure of revenge by capturing the team championship at the Dell Rapids Invitational on Monday.

The Cavaliers ended with a team total of 301, just in front of Dakota Valley in second with 304, and Vermillion in third with 305, two teams that finished ahead of Roncalli at the West Central Early Bird last week.

“It was fun to watch today,” said Roncalli coach Jon Murdy. “Not everyone had their ‘A’ game and they found a way to get through the day.”

Roncalli was led by Harper Schnabel who finished runner-up with a round of 70. In four tourneys this season, Schnabel has been second three times and third once. Finn Anderson finished sixth with a 76, Lucas Daggett was ninth with a 77, and Jesse Hernandez tied for 10th with a 78.

“It was fun to see and watch all their hard work paying off,” Murdy said.

The Cavaliers will continue their busy start to the season by hosting the Northeast Conference Tournament today at 10 a.m. at Lee Park Golf Course.

“Hopefully they can keep playing well,” Murdy said, “and see what happens.”
