Braun ties for second at Notah Begay tourney

FARIBAULT, Minn. – Olivia Braun of Aberdeen ended up in tie for second place in the Girls’ 16-18 Division at the Notah Begay Golf Tournament at the Golf at the Legacy in Faribault, Minn. on Tuesday.

The senior at Aberdeen Central shot a second straight round of 76 to finish with a 36-hole total of 152. Carmen Jirele of Owatonna, Minn., also carded a two-day total of 152.

Selena Wu of Eden Prairie, Minn., won the division title with a 148. Wu had a final round score of 72.

Aberdeen’s Claire Crawford, who will be a junior at Roncalli this fall, finished 12th with a 36-hole score of 183.

Crawford’s teammate at Roncalli Mackenzie Wegehaupt finished eighth in the Girls’ 14-15 Division with a 175. She fired a round of 85 on Tuesday, five strokes better than her first-round total.

On the boys’ side, Gavin Colson of Onida finished 27th in the 16-18 Division with a 36-hole score of 167. Beckham McPeck of Agar tied for 18th in the 12-13 Division with a two-day total of 161.
