Class A Track and Field Leaders

The Groton girls are piecing together some impressive relays so far this spring. The Tigers are among the top eight teams in all five relay races in the Class A track and field leaders this week.

Groton has the third best time in the 1,600-meter relay, the fifth best time in the sprint medley relay, and is rated eighth in the 400-meter relay, 800-meter relay, and the 3,200-meter relay.

The Deuel boys are also gaining state-wide attention. Oliver Fieber has the top times in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, while the Cardinals own the fastest time in the 800-meter relay, and are fourth in the 400-meter relay. Deuel’s Gabe Sather has the second best clocking in the 110-meter high hurdles and is eighth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.

Hamlin’s Zac VanMeeteren is currently second in the 100, 200 and 400.

Great Plains Lutheran boys are also having a solid spring. Lucas Johnson is the top-rated high jumper, Micah Holien is sixth in the 100, third in the 200, and seventh in the 400, Hessel Andringa is fifth in the triple jump, and seventh in the 300-meter hurdles, Austin Rubendall is fourth in the javelin, and the Panthers have the seventh-best time in the sprint medley relay.

Other top area boys’ leaders are Milbank’s Emmett Hanson who is third in the 110-meter high hurdles and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles, Michael Severson of Clark-Willow Lake is fourth in the shot put, Milbank’s Bryton Blauert is fourth in the pole vault with Aberdeen Roncalli’s Isaac Price eight, Shane Henderson of Mobridge-Pollock is fifth in the discus with Hamlin’s Tate Everson eighth, Miller’s Isaak Hunter if six in the 110-meter hurdles, Clark-Willow Lake’s Jakob Steen is sixth in the javelin with Deuel’s Owen Haas, Sam Rick of Milbank is sixth in the triple jump, and Groton’s Keegen Tracy is seventh in the 100.

In relays, Milbank is seventh in the 1,600, and Groton is eighth in the 3,200.

Other top area girls’ leaders area Zayda Townsend of Milbank who is fourth in the 400, followed by Addison Byer of Florence-Henry who is seventh, Deuel’s Makia Moe who is fourth in the pole vault followed by Milbank’s Jacy Dexter in fifth, and Webster’s Kenley Grewe in eighth, Sarah Zubke of Webster who is seventh in the high jump, Katie Braun who is eighth in the discus, and Sisseton’s Sidney Johnson who is eighth in the javelin.

In other relays, Milbank is seventh in the 1,600 with Clark-Willow Lake in eighth.
