EUREKA – The depth of the Warner girls’ squad was on display Tuesday at the North Central Invitational track and field meet. The Monarchs won the girls’ team crown without winning a single event.

There were two double individual event winners on the day. Spencer Melius of Faulkton won the 110-meter high hurdles and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles on the boys’ side. Herreid-Selby Area’s Breanna Jochim won the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes in the girls’ division.

Aberdeen Christian’s Dylan Hofer won the triple jump. The Knights also turned in some solid performances in relay races.

“Boys and girls put together some solid 4X100s, which we were really looking to do,” said Christian coach Sam Bjorkman.

As a whole, the Knights had a big day in field events.

“Brooks (Jett) is making some progress technically in the high jump, which for obvious reasons we want to see him developing,” Bjorkman said. “And we had a number of individual PRs across the board in throws, sprints, and jumps.”

Ipswich’s Kyle Hettich won the 400-meter dash, and Max Kulesa took the 800-meter run, and both were members of the winning 1,600-meter relay squad for the Tigers. Potter County’s Dannika Kaup won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, and also ran on the Battlers’ first place sprint medley and 3,200-meter relay teams.
