Roncalli derailed by O’Gorman, weather conditions

SIOUX FALLS – Aberdeen Roncalli got a look at one of the state’s premier tennis programs before having its day end early because of the weather.

The Cavaliers were blanked by unbeaten O’Gorman 9-0 and then had their match halted against Brandon Valley because of hail, snow and rain.

Roncalli played short sets against the Knights, who have lost just one single match so far this season.

“O’Gorman is very good,” said Roncalli coach Jason Haskell. “Probably one of the top three teams in the state.”

That said, Roncalli’s top flight doubles team of Gannon May and Will Haskell held its own against OG.

“Will and Gannon had some really good points at one doubles,” Coach Haskell said.

The Cavaliers, who play Sioux Falls Roosevelt and Watertown at Watertown on Monday, will look for another time to face Brandon Valley this spring.

“Hopefully, we can get our match with BV squeezed in somewhere down the road,” Haskell said.
