Wings clinch playoff spot with win over North Iowa

MASON CITY, Ia. – The Aberdeen Wings secured a position in the upcoming North American Hockey League playoffs with a 6-2 win over North Iowa on Friday night.

The Wings remained in fourth place in the Central Division standings one point behind Austin, which eliminated St. Cloud on Friday night. Aberdeen could move into third place with a win tonight and an Austin loss.

Trailing 1-0 after the opening period, the Wings exploded for three goals in both the second and third periods in their victory. Jibber Kuhl led Aberdeen with a pair of goals. Nikolai Tishkevich, Logan Gravink, Grant Winkler and Isak Holmstrom each found the back of the net once for the Wings.

Goalie Adam Dybal stopped 25 shots in goal for Aberdeen.

The Wings conclude the regular season tonight with another game at North Iowa.
