WATERTOWN – Shots were few and far between for the Aberdeen Cougars Saturday night.
The Cougars fell to the Watertown Lakers 3-1 in boys’ hockey action.
Aberdeen managed just 15 shots during the entire contest.
“They outplayed us. We had four shots in the first period and 15 for the game,” said Cougars coach Jeremey Backous. “That’s just not good enough to win any games.”
After the Lakers scored the first goal of the contest, Brady Huff tied the game on an assist from Jaxon Danielson. However, that was all the scoring Aberdeen could get on the night.
The hosts added goals in the second and third periods to grab the victory.
While Aberdeen had just 15 shots, Watertown had nearly double that total with 27. Cougars goalie Colton Townsend stopped 24 of those shots.

“Colton played well and gave us a chance to win,” Backous said.
Aberdeen has its final home game of the season this afternoon when the Cougars host Brookings at 3 p.m. at the Odde Ice Center. Aberdeen then has a pair of road games to conclude the regular season.
“With only three season games to go, we need to find some consistency in our play,” Backous said.
