HARRISBURG – Aberdeen Central wrapped up a four-dual week with a second pair of boys’ wrestling victories Thursday night, claiming a 39-22 win over Harrisburg and a 35-28 victory over Watertown as part of the Harrisburg Triangular.

The two wins came on the heels of a two-win outing on Tuesday.

“It was a tough week,” said Central coach Donnie Bowden, noting that following Tuesday’s matches, his team did not have any allowances when it came to making weight on Thursday. “But we found a way to do it.”

Central made the trip without Rayden Zens, a standout wrestler who has the only two victories over Watertown standout Sloan Johannsen in the past four years. That meant a slight juggle in the lineup for the Golden Eagles.

“That’s the way we’ve been doing it each time,” Bowden said. “Each time out, we find a way to get it done.”

Central got a pair of wins from Tate Huff (132), Ridley Waldo (138), Owen Ward (144), Mason Schrempp (157) and Ayden Gisi (215). Waldo’s two victories came via pin fall, while Schrempp recorded one pin and a technical fall on the day.

Central will now turn its attention to the annual Lee Wolf Invitational on Saturday at Golden Eagles Arena.

“The kids are excited for it,” Bowden said. “They circle this one on the calendar every year. … It’s the last audition, so to speak, before the postseason, our last individual tournament. The last one where you have to navigate round-to-round and the ups and downs with that. We’re looking forward to it.”
