WEBSTER – Northwestern swept the individual titles at the Region 1B cross country meet at the Webster Golf Course on Wednesday.
On the boys’ side, Northwestern’s Nathan Melius won the individual title with a time of 17:46.15. Deubrook Area’s Landen Johnson (18:07.41) edged out Frederick’s Milo Sumption (18:07.94) for second place. Xavier Kadlec of Ipswich and Korbin Stark of Faulkton rounded out the top five.
Northwestern also won the team title with a score of 19, four points ahead of Deubrook Area (23). Frederick (27), Faulkton (32), and Ipswich (54) finished third through fifth, respectively.
For Aberdeen Christian, Joseph Richards placed 22nd (20:15.03), while Elijah Alvear placed 32nd (22:10.75).
On the girls’ side, Northwestern’s Ella Boekelheide won with a time of 19:24.94. Warner’s Kennadee Wagner (20:21.47) placed second, just ahead of Frederick’s Morgan Sumption (20:25.34). James Valley Christian’s Hadasah Olson (20:51.28) and Ipswich’s Madisyn Gellhaus (20:55.69) placed fourth and fifth.
In team standings, Frederick edged Northwestern for the team title after both tied for first with score of 26. Warner finished in third place (29), while James Valley Christian (29), and Ipswich (32) finished in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Aberdeen Christian’s Clara Herreid placed 27th (24:13.72), while Lucy Jones placed 39th (31:41.50).
