The South Dakota Cross Country/Track and Field Coaches Association has announced its year end coaching awards.
Among the winners include Area 1 Coach the Year recipients Eric Townsend of Milbank Area in Class A, Jessica Larson of Potter County in Class B, and Assistant Coach of the Year Derek Boekelheide of Northwestern. In Area 4 West, Assistant Coach of the Year is Matt Osborne of Aberdeen Central.
Winners in Area 2 East are: AA East Girls, Tony Thoreson of Brandon Valley; AA East Boys, Luke Jelen of Sioux Falls Lincoln; Class A, Luke Vander Leest of Sioux Falls Christian; Class B, Julie Eppard of Chester Area; and Assistant Coach of the Year, Mike Putnam of Brandon Valley, and Scott Cross of Elk Point-Jefferson.
Winners in Area 3 are Class A, Stephanie McCord of Kimball-White Lake; Class B, Larry Buffington of Gayville-Volin; and Assistant Coach of the Year, Valerie Nelson of Chamberlain.
Other Area 4 West winners are AA West Boys, Jesse Coy of Rapid City Stevens; AA West Girls, Blake Proefrock of Sturgis; Class A, Russell Cournoyer of Red Cloud; and Class B, Ralph Kroetch of Philip.
