Roncalli sweeps past Langford Area

The Aberdeen Roncalli volleyball program dispatched Langford Area in straight sets Tuesday night, winning the non-conference match by final scores of 25-12, 25-5 and 25-11 at the Roncalli Gym.

The Cavaliers took control of the night at the service line, racking up 19 total aces as a team. Ella Hanson led the way, notching seven aces on just 16 attempts. Camryn Bain had four aces on seven total service attempts.

“We had a strong offensive night,” said Roncalli coach Mandy Smid. “The tone was set from the service line and Ella led the way.”

Hanson also led the way at the net with six of the Cavaliers’ 21 kills and on defense with 14 digs. Maddie Huber notched three kills and 11 assists.

“We stayed aggressive throughout the match and spread out the success even to our younger players,” Smid said.

Langford Area got a pair of kills from Bryanna Peterson and 11 digs from Avery West. Eliana Darling and Peterson had six digs apiece for the Lions.

Roncalli, winners of five of its last seven matches, improved to 8-6 on the season. The Cavaliers will host Britton-Hecla Thursday on Pink Night.

Hitting: Langford Area 34-42 3 kills (Bryanna Peterson 10-10-2 kills, Eliana Darling 9-11 1 kill); Aberdeen Roncalli 55-62 21 kills (Hanson 12-15 6 kills, Maddie Huber 5-5 3 kills).

Setting: Langford Area 45-45 3 assists (Marlow 18-18 3 assists); Aberdeen Roncalli 59-59 17 assists (Huber 34-34 11 assists, Faith Danielson 20-20 6 assists).

Digs: Langford Area 47 (Avery West 11, Darling 6, Peterson 6); Aberdeen Roncalli 40 (Hanson 14, Bain 8).

Records: Langford Area 7-12; Aberdeen Roncalli 8-6.
