MADISON – Aberdeen Central did not drop a single match on the way to collecting a pair of tennis dual victories on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles blanked both Madison and Vermillion 9-0 on the day.
“I was really pleased with the effort against Vermillion,” said Central coach John Vogel, “not only because the varsity girls had a break after Madison and a few had a slow start for the second match, but they were able to pull it out.”
The Eagles not only had to overcome their opponents, they had to deal with less than ideal elements.
“It became extremely windy during the Vermillion match,” Vogel said, “but our girls stayed focused and it didn’t seem to phase them.”
While all of the Central players won all of their matches, Vogel pointed out the play of one individual in particular.
“Emily (Ringgenberg) continued her fine play at flight one singles,” Vogel said.
The Eagles will finally have a home match when they play host to St. Thomas More on Monday at Holgate. Central was scheduled to have their opener last week, but a match against Milbank Area was canceled.
