Aberdeen Central is heading back west for its Class AA boys’ SoDak 16 encounter against Rapid City Central at 1 p.m. (MST) today.

The two met in Rapid City early in the season with the Golden Eagles pulling out a 60-57 victory.

At closer glance, these two teams share a few things in common.

The Eagles (10-10) have lost three straight and four of their last five, but most of the games were against rated teams, including a narrow defeat against top-rated Sioux Falls Washington in the final game of the regular season. The Eagles have lost four games by six points or less this year.

RCC (11-8) didn’t fare much better down the stretch, losing its last two and three of its last four. The Cobblers lost three games by three points or less or in overtime.

The winner advances to the Class AA state tournament later this month in Rapid City.
