VOLGA – Aberdeen Roncalli started out its golf season in dominating fashion on Monday by winning the Sioux Valley Invitational by 18 strokes. The Cavaliers, who placed four golfers among the top eight finishers, had a team score of 306.

“Good day and good way to start the season for the boys,” said Roncalli coach Jon Murdy.

Roncalli’s Finn Anderson was the medalist with an even par 72, two strokes better than teammate Harper Schnabel who finished runner-up. Lucas Daggett was fourth with a 78, and Jesse Hernandez was seventh with an 82.

“Happy how Lucas battle back after a bad start,” Murdy said. “Finn and Harper both had a good day on the course.”

Sisseton’s Luke Nielsen was eighth with an 82, while Groton’s Jace Johnson was 10th with an 83, and Jonathan DeBoer of Milbank was 12th with an 83.
