MADISON – Aberdeen Roncalli and Milbank both picked up doubles victories during the opening day of the Madison Invitational tennis tournament on Friday.
Roncalli received a win at third flight from the newly formed team of Josie Mitzel and Lydia Nora, which defeated a foe from Lennox.
“Our three doubles team of Josie Mitzel and Lydia Nora played super well together,” said Roncalli coach Jonah Dignan. “It was their first time playing together and I was pleased with the result.”
Dignan also pointed out the performance of Ginna Cihak in the singles portion of the tourney.
“Gianna Cihak played some of her best tennis today,” Dignan said. “She played super smart tennis in all of her singles matches and was really hitting the ball well.”
The Milbank third flight doubles team of Bri Hicks and Becca Lavallee finished fourth, while the top flight doubles tandem of Jenna Korstjens and Payton Lamp took seventh.
The tournament continues today.
