Aberdeen Cougars add two new head coaches

The Aberdeen Hockey Association has announced the appointment of Dana Myhre as the Boys’ Varsity Head Coach and Amy Munsterman-Wills’ as the Girls’ Varsity Head Coach for the upcoming season.

According to a press release from the AHA, “both coaches bring extensive experience, unwavering passion, and the skills necessary to guide teams toward state championship contention while instilling valuable life lessons through the game of hockey.”

There will be a Meet the Coaches Night coming soon for players and families to meet the new coaches.

Both Myhre and Munsterman-Wills have a background in the hockey community.

According to the release, “their expertise and dedication will foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and growth within the Aberdeen Hockey Association.”

Both the Cougars boys and girls qualified for the past two state tournaments. Aberdeen won the Girls’ State Championship in 2024.

The Aberdeen Hockey Association press release goes on to say that, “Our board is committed to enhancing the experience for all players and improving our competitiveness across every age group. Through our recent partnership with the Aberdeen Wings, we’ve developed a clear vision to achieve higher standards, better development, and greater accountability on the hockey side. While these improvements involve increased membership costs, every additional dollar directly supports our players through expanded camps, enhanced coaching standards, and a consistent development strategy.”
